featuring photos of Lance's encounter
with a 318 mile per hour wind

This is what was left of Lance's home after the tornado of May 3. 1999, looking up his driveway. The structure to the right was his neighbor's house.

Sorting through the rubble. While the homes in the background suffered damage, some of them are salvageable.

Lance and Debbie's place, on the other hand, was completely destroyed. Not a wall was left standing. This pile of lumber used to be a 2-story home.

Lance taking a break.

Note the crushed cars in the background. These were parked in the garage. The tornado left them totaled.

Lance standing atop the rubble. He and Debbie managed to salvage some photos, CDs, books, and other personal items but for the most part, all of their stuff was lost or destroyed. The trees in the background were stripped not only of their leaves and most branches, but most of their bark as well.

And this is the tree that resided directly across the street from Lance and Debbie's house -- the one he wrote about in E-llusions #23.
