What would prompt a couple of blue-collar guys (Lance and John) with absolutely no formal
training in writing, editing, graphic design, photography, publishing, marketing, or
printing to start a magazine?
Theories vary. Some suggest it was a chronic mental
disability; others think it was simply a masochistic desire to plunge far into debt and
work ourselves to death. Or perhaps a combination of the two.

But the truth is, we were simply interested in sharing
what we considered to be fascinating ideas. Thus was born ILLUSIONS: A
Journey Through Ideas & Spirit. ILLUSIONS was a
quarterly, 32-page journal that contained no advertising, and it was not available on
newsstands. Despite this, ILLUSIONS attracted hundreds of
subscribers, many of whom became close friends. ILLUSIONS
lasted for a year and a half, and it was the reason our cottage industry, MoonShadow
Press, was formed in the first place.

We hope we don't seem boastful when we say we're proud of ILLUSIONS.
Though the magazine is gone, its spirit certainly lives on in our regular E-llusions email
communiqué, and in this website, MoonShadow Visions.
